Voting now open to name Beardsley Zoo’s first-ever red panda cub
The male cub was born on June 24 to parents Ponya and Pilot.

Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo’s first-ever red panda cub is in need of a name.
Starting Sept. 25, people can vote for one of three names selected by the Zoo's animal care staff, each inspired by the native range and culture of red pandas:
Ravi, a Nepali name meaning sun.
Tashi, a Tibetan name meaning fortunate or lucky.
Pabu, a Tibetan word meaning fluffball.
Voting will remain open until 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 29. The winning name will be announced the next morning at 11 a.m. on the zoo's Facebook and Instagram pages.
The male cub was born on June 24 to parents Ponya and Pilot.
Zoo officials say his birth is an achievement for the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Red Panda Species Survival Plan, which works to maintain a healthy and genetically diverse population of this endangered species.
