A group of volunteers spent Saturday morning cleaning up Keansburg Beach.
The cleanup effort, which is held in conjunction with the Clean Ocean Action initiative, is held every fourth Saturday between April and October.
Officials say that the cleanup does not go unnoticed.
"A lot of people come down and they see a clean beach and they remember that, and they come off the beach and they come back again," says Councilman Arthur Boden.
The cleanup effort ends with a statewide sweep event this October.
