Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine was administered in Asbury Park on Thursday.
The Visiting Nurses Association of Central Jersey administered the shots. The CEO says that the demand for the vaccine is overwhelming and outpacing the supply.
Nearly 1,400 shots have already been administered at the health center’s four Monmouth County locations.
“We got an early Christmas present on Dec. 23 and received the Moderna vaccine for us to distribute,” said VNACJ CEO Christopher Rinn. “We received our vaccinations and pretty early on recognized that we had a tall order to make sure we not only vaccinated our own staff, but all those health care heroes and partners in the phase 1A category.”
Vaccines were available by appointment only.
