Have you ever had a robot cashier ask for a tip?

Travelers took to social media after reports of a self-checkout kiosk seeking extra compensation at Newark Liberty International Airport.

The video posted by Clay Moss, MD has gone viral on platforms like TikTok and Instagram.

“Has tipping culture gotten out of hand?” he asks in the post.

When asked for a response, a Port Authority spokesperson provided News 12 with the following statement:

“Tipping prompts have no place at self-checkout kiosks and we have previously worked with OTG to ensure customers do not receive those prompts. We have contacted OTG about the kiosk shown in the video and expect the tipping option to be removed immediately. We will also confirm that no other self-checkout kiosks are prompting customers for tips.”
