The U.S. attorney in Newark has charged a Wisconsin grocery store clerk with making a hoax threat for claiming several NFL stadiums would be targeted by terrorists this weekend. The suspect has been identified as Jake J. Brahm of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Brahm surrendered to the U.S. Marshal's Service in Milwaukee Friday morning. U.S. Attorney Christopher Christie says the suspect was charged in a sealed criminal complaint filed Thursday in Newark.
The FBI determined Thursday that the threats were a hoax. Investigators say the Internet prank was inspired by a writing competition between two men trying to come up with scary threats. One of the stadiums allegedly targeted was Giants Stadium in East Rutherford.
