The National Weather Service issued air quality alerts for parts of Connecticut, New Jersey and New York Wednesday due to the widespread haze from the Canadian wildfires.
The alerts were extended through Thursday, but the unhealthy air could stay with us for a little longer.
News 12's Storm Watch Team meteorologists say we can expect smoke forecasts through at least Friday.
People with respiratory issues are being warned to limit their time outdoors due to the smoke blanketing the area.
Many schools across the area are also canceling or limiting outdoor recess and activities.
