Two women charged, 1,000+ beers confiscated in Newark party busts

Two women from Irvington have been arrested for maintaining an illegal, unlicensed alcohol establishment at two separate large parties held over the weekend at the same location in Newark.

Two women from Irvington have been arrested for maintaining an illegal, unlicensed alcohol establishment at two separate large parties held over the weekend at the same location in Newark.
According to officials, Fanny Camas, 27, and Rose Mainato, 23, are facing charges, with additional charges possible.
Officers responded Saturday around 11:45 p.m. to 223 Verona Ave. on a report of a COVID-19 violation. Police observed several people at the location not wearing masks and drinking beers. Officers also observed a full soccer game occurring.
Maintano was serving beer from a concession stand in exchange for money without a license. Police confiscated 720 Bud Light Lime beers and 272 Corona beers.
Maintano faces charges of maintaining an unlicensed liquor establishment, illegal sale of liquor, and unlawful possession of alcohol.
Police responded Sunday around 7:40 p.m. in a separate incident to a complaint of a COVID-19 violation at the same address. Responding officers observed 150 to 200 adults and children, many not social distancing or wearing masks, inside the establishment.
Camas was arrested for serving beers from a concession stand for money without a license. Police confiscated 22 beers and $830.00 in proceeds from illegal alcohol sales.
Camas has been charged with maintaining an unlicensed liquor establishment, illegal sale of liquor, and unlawful possession of alcohol.
