? Authorities say two of the four women found in a ditch outside Atlantic City were strangled.
Investigators say an autopsy on the third victim was unable to conclusively determine a cause of death because the body was so decomposed. The women, all Caucasian, were found shoeless and lying face down in several inches of water. The bodies were discovered behind a row of budget motels Monday. None of the victims had any identification, and they were all in various states of decomposition. According to police, it is unclear if the women died at the site or if their bodies were dumped at the location.
The first two victims? autopsies had them dead from a few days to as long as a week. An autopsy on the third victim concluded that she may have been in the water for at least two weeks. An autopsy on the final victim is scheduled for Wednesday.
Police say no physical evidence has been uncovered that would indicate someone had been killed in a nearby motel. So far, one of the victims has been identified. Investigators are also searching through missing persons reports. Residents who live in the area say drugs and crime are becoming an all too common occurrence.
