Two gas leaks caused road closures and evacuations on Monday

PSEG says if you smell gas, it's best not to smoke, vape or start your car.

Two gas leaks, one near a hospital and another near a middle school, caused road closures and evacuations in New Jersey on Monday.

A construction company working on Banks Avenue in Asbury Park struck a gas main.

Two hundred to 300 people were evacuated from a school, a church and several homes. The leak was contained by noon.

A PSEG curb valve experienced a leak on Lehigh Avenue in Newark near Newark Beth Israel on Monday evening.
