Two dead, two victims critical after weekend shooting in Trenton
Police in Trenton are searching for the gunmen who targeted a block party along Locust Street. Police say in all, 10 people were injured by gunfire.

Two people are dead and two victims remain hospitalized in critical condition following a shooting in Trenton at a block party this weekend. So far, no arrests have been made.
In all, Trenton police say 10 people celebrating the end of summer on Locust Street were injured by gunfire. Since the shooting, investigators have been interviewing witnesses and reviewing home surveillance video for answers.
There were over 100 people on the street at the time of the shooting.
Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora says, going forward, police will break up any type of block party of this sort that doesn’t have a permit from City Hall. The mayor has confirmed those those throwing the party on Locust were denied a permit before the weekend.
“After 10 p.m., we have to have no tolerance for any kind of outdoor gathering that has not been authorized. You don’t want police to agitate the crowd and invoke violence but on the other hand you have to give them discretion to come and break these large gatherings up," said Mayor Gusciora.
These two deaths are the seventh and eighth homicides for the city this year. The incident follows a shooting in June in which seven were shot at the corner of Furman and Center Street.

Overall, the mayor says crime is down in Trenton, homicides have been reduced by 57% over last year and the city has been working to prevent gun violence.
“Last year, we added 23 cops this year 29. We also have two active street teams that are out there. We have mental health counselors. So it’s a wholistic effort to address crime and violence in the city," said Gusciora.
The names of the victims have not yet been released.
Police are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call.
