A truck carrying a boat jackknifed on a Middlesex County highway on Thursday morning, leading to a fuel spill and big delays as the boat sat on the trailer parked on the roadway.
South Brunswick police Capt. Jim Ryan said the truck tried to slow down while approaching traffic on Route 1 around 7:45 a.m. Thursday, but the weight of the boat forced it to jackknife.
The tractor sideswiped a car in the left lane of the two-lane highway, but no one was injured.
The highway was closed until around 10 a.m.
The "Sea Hunter" boat is listed as being from Osterville, Massachusetts. The trailer has an "oversize load" sign on it.
