A man was caught by police over the weekend minutes after fatally shooting his girlfriend.

Prosecutors say Jeremy Ratliff, 29, first assaulted his girlfriend Precious Saunders, 32, earlier in the day Saturday inside a residence on Hills Place. They say a complaint-warrant had been issued for Ratliff charging him with aggravated assault.

Hours later, prosecutors say neighbors heard the woman scream followed by several gunshot during around 10:19 p.m. Saunders sustained multiple wounds and was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where she died, according to prosecutors.

Prosecutors say Ratliff was found around 10:45 p.m. in the area of Trenton Transit Center on Clinton Avenue. He is being charged with murder.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact MCHTF Detective Karl Johnston at 609-989-6406 or Sgt. Roberto Reyes at 609-256-0997. Information can also be emailed to mchtftips@mercercounty.org.
