After lifeguards in Trenton were rumored to be walking off the job due to payment problems, officials say pools will stay open in the city.
Lifeguards who said they hadn't been paid since pools opened a month ago were reportedly set to walk off. A supervisor at the Cooper Street Pool says the situation was all a misunderstanding.
Only three city pools are open in Trenton this summer with two others closed for cost cutting.
City Councilman George Muschel says enough money was set aside to pay staff at the pools and is skeptical about why it took a month for lifeguards to receive pay checks.
Most of the guards are make $10 per hour.
