A Toms River man received the Department of Defense?s top honor Thursday for his work at Forth Monmouth.
Victor Ferlise says he began his career at Fort Monmouth 35 years ago. He worked his way up through the ranks to senior civilian deputy. Ferlise was given the award for his role in providing United States soldiers with the electronic and communications equipment needed to fight wars.
Ferlise says he is honored to receive the highest award in the Department of Defense. He is proud to have been able to support soldiers. Ferlise plans to retire in February and finally practice law, which he gave up when he started working at Fort Monmouth.
