Toms River holds Halloween parade believed to be 2nd largest in US
Toms River held what is believed to be the second largest Halloween parade in the U.S.
The 79th annual parade started at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Participants started marching from Toms River Shopping Center at Route 37 and Main Street. The route ends at Hooper Avenue.
Authorities began closing down streets in the area shortly before 6 p.m.
Spectators began lining up their chairs to save spots along the parade route early Tuesday morning.
Students from Toms River High School South painted windows along Washington Avenue with Halloween-themed creations.
“My creation is a remake of Audrey Hepburn's ‘Breakfast at Tiffany's,’ but I put a twist on it and made her a zombie instead,” Toms River High School South junior Melina Sobieski said.
The Guinness Book of World Records bestowed the title of second largest Halloween parade upon the town. New York’s Greenwich Village parade takes the top spot in the country.
