Two South Brunswick police officers are being credited with helping to save a 3-year-old from drowning.
The incident happened at a home on Route 1 near Whispering Woods Boulevard Saturday evening.
Officials say the East Brunswick boy was at a party with his father and was in a pool when he lost his grip on a raft.
Witnesses say the child was pulled out of the pool within minutes, but was not breathing. Someone at the party who knew CPR started to try to revive him.
Officers George Morgan and Jared Harpster arrived at the home and continued the rescue efforts until the boy began to breathe again.
The child was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and was listed in fair condition as of Saturday night.
Police are asking residents to be cautious when hosting parties where young children can get access to pools.
They recommend children wear flotation devices and have someone monitoring the pool at all times.
