News 12 New Jersey has reported on several home invasions with criminals who are on the hunt for luxury vehicles.
So how would a homeowner protect themselves and their family if someone breaks in? Edison Police Chief Tom Bryan shared some best practices on how to handle it safely.
  • If you're able to, call 911.
  • Keep your garage door openers and key fobs out of the car
  • Keep your car locked.
  • If you do have a high-end vehicle, you should keep it in your garage if you can do so.
Calls continue to pour in on the local and county level for stronger penalties for offenders caught doing these crimes.
According to law enforcement, the rise in number of auto thefts and home invasions indicates a staggering problem on the state level.
