8 tips to combat election anxiety
Election anxiety can have a big impact on a person's mental health, productivity, and job performance.
In 2020, a poll released by the American Psychological Association, showed that 68% of adults said that the 2020 U.S. presidential election was a significant source of stress in their life.
Below are some tips that can help you combat election anxiety:
1. Practice good selfcare. Get more sleep, eat healthy and exercise. Staying active helps improve emotional regulations.
2. Try to spend at least 30 minutes outside.
3. Surround yourself with positivity. Seek the company of positive people who aren’t consumed by the election.
4. Take days off for mental rejuvenation.
5. Prepare for no results. Uncertainty produces anxiety, but this year it may take days until there is an official result.
6. Limit "doom scrolling" online, especially on social media.
7. Divide your work schedule into short chunks of time, so that you can take breaks.
8. Avoid political discussions with co-workers.
