Residents spent part of the day Tuesday surveying the damage to parts of the Garden State following severe thunderstorms that tore through the area overnight.
Flaming shingles were blown off an apartment building roof by a bolt of lightning. Debris left over from the storm littered Terhune Drive in Wayne. The storm forced a tree onto power lines and in Little Ferry, the streets were flooded.
Carmen Estrada, a resident on 4th Street in Passaic, described the storm as, ?flames coming down.? Estrada kept her kids home from school Tuesday after a scary and sleepless night. The roof of her apartment was damaged by lightning.
No one was hurt during or after the storm.
