The Real Deal: New way to pay for dental cleanings and whitening

Many of us don't have dental insurance to pay for routine cleanings and whitening.
News 12's consumer reporter Janice Lieberman has the The Real Deal on a new way to pay for dental care.
It sounds too good to be true. Pay $200 a year for unlimited cleanings and whiteners. A new subscription service is hitting the tri-state area with plans to open more.
Tyle Burnett came up with the idea for Wally Health, a subscription based dental care. It's a proactive approach, without accepting insurance.
"So what we did at Wally is cut out the middleman, we cut out the middleman, we cut out insurance and really that's allowed us to focus on delivering proactive preventative care to patients at a fraction of the cost, because we don't have to play the game that insurance wants us to play which could increase costs," says Burnett.
The downside, patients cannot be treated for emergency work, crowns, fillings, and cosmetic dentistry. Wally will take diagnostic X-rays and refer you to a dentist or a clinic.
Patients who cannot afford to see a dentist for treatment can try to go to dental school clinics like the one at NYU and be treated by a student at a discount.
Wally Health is gauging its success and plans to open more centers in New York City and Brooklyn. They tell News 12 patients are coming from Long Island, Connecticut and New Jersey to take advantage of the subscription.
