More than 1,000 people came out to Kean University to pick up donated food.
The Community Food Bank of New Jersey and Stop & Shop partnered up to offer fresh produce and non-perishable items.
"COVID-19 that has presented the perfect storm of an increase in needs, a decrease in food donations and an impact into the charitable food systems environment," says Vice President of Programs for Community Food Bank of New Jersey Jeannie Fournier. "Donating your time, your funds, your energy to helping out neighbors in need is the greatest thing that you can do."
Locally harvested produce, including blueberries, cabbage and yellow squash, was also given out.
