Father's Day is a week from Sunday, and while peace during the Yankees-Red Sox game might be free, many are still planning to spend big.
Spending is expected to hit a record $24 billion this year, topping the previous high of $23 billion.
Nearly $5 billion is projected to go toward special outings, followed by clothes, gift cards, electronics and personal care.
One unique outing option? A simplified version of golf at Great Gorge in Vernon. It uses one club, a larger ball, and shorter play times — all for $20 per golfer.
"It's like the pickleball of golf," one organizer said.
