? Residents at a Bronx apartment building are upset with their landlord over what they describe as ?war zone? living conditions.
Morma Almestica is a tenant at 600 East 178th St. Almestica says her grandchildren, including one with asthma, sleep in a mold and rodent-infested apartment with holes in the wall. Tenants want the bank that holds the building?s mortgage to enforce a clause in the contract that would make the landlord fix the apartments. They say it would be in the New York Community Bank?s best interest to protect its investment.
The owners of the apartment building say they are working quickly to repair the 300 violations they inherited when they purchased the property.
