A Pennsylvania teen is recovering from a shark attack on the Jersey Shore on Sunday.
Maggie Drozdowski told News 12 she was confronted by the shark while on a surfing trip with her family in Stone Harbor Beach.
Drozdowski needed six stiches in her foot after being attacked.
"I thought it was just a crab pinching my foot," she said. "My whole foot was in its mouth. I was shaking my foot as hard as I could."
According to the Global Shark, there are only 100-120 attacks reported yearly around the world.
A shark expert says as the warmer weather arrives and more people going to the beach, people should be alert. If you see a school of bait fish swimming towards the shore, move away because they could be running from a shark. Also, don’t wear jewelry or bright colored swimwear, and don’t wander off on your own because shark see that as prey.
