Police made an arrest Sunday night in connection with a prank 911 call about a shooting on the College of New Jersey.
Police charged 19-year-old Michael Larkin, of Trenton, with making the call. The call to police was made 6 a.m. Sunday. The caller reported shots being fired inside Travers Hall, a campus dorm.
Students and parents were quickly alerted of the reports with phone calls, text messages and updates on the campus Web site.
After checking out the story, investigators determined the call was a hoax. Authorities still took precautions and stepped up security throughout the day. Students? access to the dorms was limited.
The college says Larkin is not a student at TCNJ. Authorities say it is not clear why the prank call was made.
