Taco Bells involved in an E. coli outbreak that sickened 25 people across central New Jersey are cleaning up Tuesday.
The infected restaurants include Taco Bells located at 4807 Stelton Road in South Plainfield, 1131 Inman Avenue in Edison and 1135 Easton Avenue in Franklin Township. Taco Bell officials told investors at their annual conference Tuesday that while they expect to reopen the infected locations soon, professional cleaning crews have been brought in.
In addition to cases in New Jersey, more than a dozen people on Long Island have also come down with E. coli that may be linked to Taco Bell restaurants. Symptoms include high fever, diarrhea and severe cramping and could take up to eight days to appear. Anyone who has recently eaten at a Taco Bell should keep an eye out for E. coli symptoms.
