A Sussex County woman thinks she's unleashed an answer to the state's bear troubles. Franklin resident Sherry Alves says bears were constantly coming into her back yard and when a bear ate her neighbor?s dog, she knew she had to do something to protect her children. So Alves purchased Kodiak, a Karelian bear dog, bred in Europe to specifically chase bears. With so many bears breaking in to New Jerseyan's back yards, Alves decided to breed the dogs. Anyone interested in purchasing a full-blood Karelian will have to shell out $1,000.
