Sussex County residents began cleaning up Sunday after many homes were damaged and left without power by Thursday?s storm.
Pete McGrath, of Highland Lakes, says the ice storm tore through the community, downing tree limbs and power lines, and blocking roads. Many in the area say trees and roads are still coated in ice, and power has yet to be restored.
"I've been in the tree business for 35 years, and this is the worst storm damage I've seen in Sussex County," says David Talmadge, whose business is responsible for clearing fallen trees.
Sussex Rural Electric says about 950 homes were still without power Sunday. Because of the work load, crews from other nearby towns are helping those in need. They hope to have a majority of homes back to normal by Monday night.
