(06/23/06) DUMONT - Police say a case of wrong information may be to blame for a bizarre Dumont home invasion early Friday morning.
According to police, two men broke into a house on 48 Franklin Street and forced the home's three residents into the basement. Investigators say the individuals held the three people at gunpoint and called a third suspect into the home. However, police say a monkey wrench was thrown into the suspects' plans when the third individual informed his partners they were holding the wrong victims.
Investigators say the suspects quickly left the home upon learning of the mistake. No one was hurt during the incident and no items were taken from the home. A neighbor claims she woke up and saw a man running outside. When he noticed her, he blew her a kiss. Anyone with information on the home invasion is urged to call the Dumont Police Department at 201-387-5000.
