A recent survey ranks Newark Liberty International Airport as one of the worst airports in the country when it comes to arrivals and departures.
Many who fly out of Newark say they expect delays and try to avoid them by arriving early or even booking early flights. According to the survey, Newark ranks last for arrivals and in the bottom three for departures.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) says there is no way to anticipate when a flight will be delayed. FAA officials recommend travelers track a particular flight?s performance online to decide if it is right for them. One pilot blames the airport delays on air traffic control. He says controllers can only handle a certain number of airplanes and it gets harder in bad weather to control three major airports.
