The body of a man was recovered on the bay side of Fire Island National Seashore Tuesday in Shirley, Suffolk County police say.

The discovery happened just before 11 a.m.

Suffolk County police say it appeared the man drowned.

The man's name is being witheld pending notification of next of kin.
