Students at North Bergen High School say they are disappointed after the arrest of two school employees that were allegedly connected to a gambling ring with mob ties.
Athletic director and wrestling coach Jerry Maietta and guidance counselor Ralph Marino have both been suspended by the school after being charged with conspiracy to promote gambling. The two were among 42 arrested in the bust, orchestrated by state police and the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
Students say the administrators were not leading by example if the charges prove true. Administrators are shocked at the charges levied against the two men.
There is no indication that the alleged crimes involved any students or other school personnel. Both men face possible termination if they are indicted.
