Hundreds of Monmouth County residents were without power Tuesday when strong winds toppled several utility poles.

Hundreds of Monmouth County residents were without power Tuesday when strong winds toppled several utility poles.
Wind gusts of up to 40 mph snapped at least five utility poles in Hazlet Tuesday afternoon, leaving homes and businesses without power.
At least 1,000 JCP&L customers in the area were without power immediately after the incident. As of 11 p.m. over 700 remained without power.
Utility crews were out making repairs. It was not immediately known when the power would be fully restored.
