If you are looking to watch something new, this is what is streaming this weekend:
"Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" is inspired by the true-life story of the blues legend, who's played by Viola Davis. The late, and great Chadwick Boseman co-stars in his final, and perhaps finest performance in his career, cut tragically short. The movie set in the 1920s, and produced by Denzel Washington, is based on August Wilson's play. It premieres today on Netflix.
This is a new series for Steven King fans - "The Stand." Whoopi Goldberg and James Marsden are part of the all-star cast in the adaptation of the post-apocalyptic novel. The limited series is streaming on CBS All Access.
How how about a fun, festive rom com to lift your holiday spirit? If you are looking for a little love story, "A California Christmas" is on Netflix now.
It's a dance docuseries that goes behind the scenes at the New York City Ballet. "On Pointe" follows the lives of students pursuing their dance dreams and features unprecedented access to the famous ballet institution. The six-part series kicks off on Disney+ today.
And this film highlights the talent of teens across America. The Self shot documentary-style, "Homeschool Musical Class of 2020," hosted by Broadway star Laura Benanti features teen performers whose school concerts and musicals were canceled this year. It's now on HBO Max.
