FREEZE WARNING: Calendar says April, but it feels like February come morning

Clear skies and lighter winds will allow the temperatures to get dangerously cold. Early spring gardens are threatened with a killing cold tonight.

ALERTS: A freeze warning is in effect for late tonight into Wednesday morning. A freeze watch is in effect for late Wednesday into Thursday morning.

FORECAST:

The temperatures are taking a few giant steps backwards heading into tonight. Expected lows will be in the mid- to upper 20s. Normal bedtime temperatures are usually around 41 degrees.

Fair weather is keeping our skies clear for Wednesday. Plenty of chilled sunshine to carry us through the day. Because the morning was just so cold, it is going to be a tall order to get afternoon highs to near 50 degrees. 60 is typical for this time of year.

Frosty start for Thursday morning. The winds will be off the ocean, adding just enough moisture to the air where widespread frost will glaze up car windows as the temperatures drop again into the low 30s.

Friday is the start of something nice. Sunny skies and a favorable wind will begin our spring-time warm-up. Friday should be a degree or two milder than the seasonal average of 60 degrees. The weekend should be in the 70s. And possibly by next Tuesday, we could have the first 80-degree temperature of the year. Something to really look forward to.
