It's a dry, sunny, breezy, but fair-weather day. The risk for fire-spread is elevated today due to the aforementioned conditions. It will be mild with highs in the lower 70s this afternoon. Tomorrow will be similar to today, but warmer with highs near 83 degrees. A spot shower or two is possible tomorrow in northwestern areas of the state.
Rain showers arrive on Wednesday, and it will be a doggy day with soaking thunderstorms in most areas. Rain continues on Thursday with temperatures in the lower to mid-60s.
The weather turns quiet for Friday with a mostly cloudy sky and temperatures in the upper 60s. There will be another round of rain on Saturday.
The drought monitor shows that all of New Jersey is under a moderate drought, which means that dry conditions are taking their toll on the environment from farms to reservoirs. Quite a bit of rain is needed to ameliorate these conditions. Newark is running about 3.36" deficit of rainfall.
