Patchy fog will keep skies damp and dismal tonight. Lows will be hovering in the mid-30s. The winds will be light, but the wind direction is onshore. The ocean water is running much cooler than normal thus the extra "bite" in the air.
Speaking of the fog, be more cautious out on the New Jersey roads tonight. The visibility will be lower because of the foggy conditions. Those light winds and all this moisture at the surface will help the low clouds form and stick around.
The fog will be slow to lift on Saturday. Most, if not the entire day, will be overcast and murky. Temperatures will be a little milder when compared to Friday afternoons high temperatures - but in reality, the air is just a few degrees warmer than normal.
The second half of the weekend looks promising. Forecasting fingers crossed that a weather system zips through very early Sunday morning. This will usher in the possibility of showers and possibly a few grumbles of thunder. The air ahead of this weather maker is very mild. Think low to middle 60s for afternoon highs. Once the front clears the area, sunshine will then appear from the cloud bank and hopefully warm things maybe a degree or two more late in the day.
The stationary weather system that keeps things cloudy and cheerless Saturday slowly lifts through the state. This pushes the raw, ocean-influenced feel back into New England. What's waiting for us is something we haven't experienced in months. Both sunshine and warm air.
