Today was a simply stunning day, with fair weather in total control. Not a cloud in the sky, but a wind from western New York kept the temperatures from reaching 50 degrees statewide. (53 is normal for perspective) So while it looked nice, the air did have a snappy feel to it. Will that continue?
Fear not, the chill will slowly come to a brief end by the end of the week. In fact, as the fair-weather system that dominated our skies slowly moves east and away from New Jersey, the winds will begin to shift. The direction becomes more southwesterly. This air will slide up the East Coast from the Carolinas and slowly begin to warm the region.
I wish I could say the warmup would coincide with sunshine. The winds move warmer air in our direction, and a weather system drags clouds and eventually rain through the region. I think most of the day Thursday will be cloudy and warmer. I'm expecting most of the state to be in the mid- to upper 60s.
It will be cooler along the coast with fog. The coming rain should hold off until the evening hours and become steadier and more consistent as Thursday night wears on. Timing is still suspicious. Most computer guidance keeps the wet weather going to greet us into Friday morning. If that's the case, the Friday morning drive to work could be cumbersome.
