A heat wave is imminent for the Garden State as high temperatures are expected to reach 90 degrees for at least three consecutive days. Highs today will reach into the 90s for the second consecutive day.
It is important to note that offshore water temperatures are very cold - still in the lower 50s. This can bring shock to the human body and cause a great risk for drowning. It is important to note that regardless of the air temperature, water under 60 degrees is considered dangerous. Please exercise caution and dress for the water temperature if swimming, not the air temperature.
It's expected to be even hotter tomorrow where some locations approach 100 degrees, especially with the feel-like temperatures due to the increased humidity level. The same situation is expected for Wednesday ahead of a front that busts the heat.
This front sharply changes the temperatures into Thursday where highs will be in the lower 70s instead of 90s. These storms on Wednesday night may run at severe levels with strong and damaging wind gusts from the west-northwest.
The weather toward the end of the week looks cloudier with periods of showers. Temperatures will be temperature if not slightly below normal for the Memorial Day weekend. Showers also are in the forecast through the weekend as well.
