A freeze warning is in effect again for Tuesday morning. With clear skies and a lessening wind, there is a good meteorological set-up for below-average temperatures. More than a few neighborhoods will be flirting with daily low temperature records.
RECORDS: Atlantic City - 25 degrees in 1981. Newark - 31 degrees in 1981. Sussex - 24 degrees in 2018. Trenton - 30 degrees in 1925.
Frost is possible but less likely and widespread due to the fact that winds may be just a bit too breezy and the airmass overhead being so dry. Regardless, dress for the cold when waiting for the bus or train. It feels more like February than April to start the day.
Plenty of sunshine will allow the temperatures to rebound somewhat through the day. It will remain below the seasonal average, in the mid-50s. There will likely be some passing showers late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Nothing substantial, but it might slow you down some for the Wednesday morning commute.
A return to above-average temperatures is expected later this week. Normal highs for the third week in April are 64 degrees. Wednesday, despite the wet and dreary start, should see highs rebound back to near normal.
We climb to near 70 degrees on Thursday. Heading into the weekend, the forecasted highs look to stay in the low to mid-60s. The forecast conundrum is rain. Widespread showers are possible over the weekend.
