Some stormy weather is expected to start off the Memorial Day holiday weekend, but Storm Watch Team Meteorologists Dave Curren says the long weekend won’t be a complete washout.
Curren is tracking a storm system expected to arrive on Friday. This system may produce heavy rain and gusty winds.
The rain develops on Friday. Strong winds and torrential downpours are expected to be the main threat. Curren says that there is a potential for a tornado to develop, which the Storm Watch Team will be monitoring. Daytime highs will be in the mid-70s, with overnight lows around 62 degrees.
Saturday has a chance for an isolated rain shower in the mid-afternoon. Daytime highs will be around 82 degrees, with overnight lows around 64.
The forecast for Sunday and Memorial Day Monday calls for a mix of sun and clouds and temperatures in the 90s. Curren says the upcoming week could bring the first heat wave of the season.
