About 75 more people at Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) in Florham Park reported falling ill to a contagious stomach virus.
On Monday, FDU said 124 staff and students had fallen ill to a norovirus that causes nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. That number rose to 198 on Tuesday because, the school said, some people failed to report the illness.
The university has posted instructions on how to fight the virus on its Web site. School officials say crews are scrubbing bathrooms, classrooms and the cafeteria. Sanitizers have also been placed in dormitory bathrooms, and sanitizing liquids are available for students at the cafeteria and computer labs, the school said.
