A state trooper is recovering Friday morning after a crash on the Garden State Parkway in East Orange, authorities said.
The incident occurred early Thursday morning when the trooper was assisting a disabled vehicle on the shoulder, according to New Jersey State Police.
A transit van collided with the scene, leaving the trooper injured and the van's driver with minor injuries.
Both were taken to hospitals, and the trooper remains in recovery as police continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
