The New Jersey Senate unanimously passed a bill Tuesday looking to reform the New Jersey SPCA.
The bill seeks to take law enforcement authority away from the agency and give it to local police and sheriff departments and the county prosecutors.
The legislation was introduced following a yearlong Kane In Your Corner investigation that uncovered financial and enforcement issues within the agency.
The New Jersey Commission of Investigation issued a report in October recommending the group be eliminated following the News 12 stories.
Assemblyman Dan Benson, who co-sponsored the bill, says he is confident that the bill will also pass in the Assembly.
