State police say an accident in Union involving a car and a tractor-trailer on I-78 has left one person dead.

According to state police, the accident was reported at 3:04 a.m. on the eastbound local lanes at mile marker 52.8.

State police say a Volvo tractor-trailer was rear ended by a BMW. Both vehicles caught fire, and both were in the local lanes.

The driver of the BMW, identified as Kadeem Buckham, 30, of Maplewood, was killed.

The lanes were closed for four hours.
