State police say an 18-year-old man died over the weekend when a pontoon boat struck a marker in Barnegat Bay.

The incident happened Sunday around 1:30 a.m. near the Route 37 bridge.

According to state police, five people were on board. The other four suffered injuries that are not life-threatening.

State police say the teen was airlifted to a hospital, and later pronounced dead.

The teenager's name has not been released.
