Gov. Phil Murphy announced that the state has confirmed 4,565 new positive COVID-19 cases, for a statewide cumulative total of 322,378 cases of the virus.
Murphy also confirmed 39 additional deaths related to coronavirus. The statewide death toll stands at 15,096.
The governor has been warning New Jerseyans for weeks to skip large family gatherings this year for Thanksgiving due to the surge in cases.
“This Thanksgiving, please stay safe. Avoid large gatherings. Wear a mask. Social distance. Wash your hands,” Murphy wrote on Twitter Thanksgiving afternoon.
Passaic County had the greatest number of new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, with 692 cases. Bergen County was next on the list with 412.
