Three stars of the Saint Peter’s men’s basketball team have put their names in the transfer portal following coach Shaheen Holloway’s departure for Seton Hall.
Starting guards Daryl Banks III and Matthew Lee and backup Doug Edert tweeted about their moves.
The Peacocks stunned the nation with their remarkable run in the NCAA Tournament. The team was the first No. 15 seed team to make it to the Elite Eight. They lost in that round to the University of North Carolina.
Despite the loss, the team became local and national heroes. A parade was held in Jersey City last week in their honor.
Banks, Lee and Edert all thanked Saint Peter’s University for the past three years. They said they wanted to see what opportunities awaited them in basketball.
Players who enter the portal may return to their schools instead of transferring.
