An early April snowstorm brought over 7 inches of snow to parts of New Jersey Monday.
The snow came after a weekend of relatively warmer temperatures and caused dozens of traffic issues during the morning commute.
Many schools in Northern New Jersey were closed or had delayed openings as a result of the snow.
Oakland resident John O’Brien said that he spent the morning clearing his driveway and walkway.
“I am retired now, so this is my job actually,” he said.
O’Brien told News 12 New Jersey that he would probably spend the rest of the day reading or watching TV.
The frequent snowstorms this spring have meant that many people have not been able to start their annual gardening. Condursos Garden Center Nursery Operations Manager James Pinkerton said that business has been slow lately.
“When you have rainy weekends, everybody's stuck inside. They typically don't come out to shop for plants. They're not in the mindset of gardening,” said Pinkerton.
Monday’s snow also pushed back the Yankees home opener game until Tuesday.
Tuesday’s weather is expected to see warmer temperatures but also some rain.
