(11/20/06) SOUTH BRUNSWICK ? Police in South Brunswick want drivers to know they?re keeping an eye on who?s naughty and nice on the roadways this holiday season.
Using a $20,000 grant from the state Department of Transportation, the police department has launched its first aggressive driving crackdown. Officers will be busy scribbling away tickets to leadfoots on many of the major roadways. The program is designed to reduce the number of area accidents during a notoriously busy travel season.
Although drivers may not be happy to see flashing red lights in their rear-view mirror, many residents are all for the program. They say they?re tired of car accidents and the speedsters that cause them. Drivers should also be aware many officers aren?t in a giving mood. Some claim verbal warnings are not part of their repertoire.
