County officials announced the reopening of the South County Trailway.
It marks the completion of a $3.1 million project kicked off last spring.
It meant rebuilding the 6.4-mile portion of the trailway from Barney Street in Yonkers to Route 119 in Elmsford.
As a result, walkers, bikers and joggers can expect a smooth experience.
"When we do our surveys with the public, hands down our trails, our over 200 miles of trails come out on top, on top of golf, on top pools, beaches, conservation, anything else. People love our trails," says Kathy O'Connor, Westchester Parks commissioner.
Draining, piping, fencing, crosswalks, gates and parking lots were all rebuilt.
