A disagreement between parents at P.S. 89 has some calling for the principal's removal and others supporting him. Gloria Galan, a member of the parents association, says Principal Ron Rivera has been trying to remove her and her husband from the association. Galan, whose husband is president of the parents association, says Rivera has a grudge against them and wants more sympathetic parents installed. Others say Rivera has improved the school and they've collected 400 signatures in support of the principal. Test scores have also risen since Rivera took the helm. Supporters say it's just a small group of disgruntled leaders who have been pushing the Department of Education to remove him.
