Some Florida airports close as major Hurricane Milton approaches, many flock home to New Jersey

Tampa will stop all flights at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Orlando shutting down operations at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Thousands from Florida are heading to New Jersey to get out of Hurricane Milton's path. This comes as some Florida airports are shutting down operations before the storm.

Tampa International Airport stopped all flights at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Orlando International Airport will shut down operations at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers will not have any commercial flights on Wednesday and Thursday.

As of Tuesday morning, Miami and Fort Lauderdale airports should operate as normal.

Airlines sent out alerts and rebooking options to avoid people traveling in and out of Florida.
