Some Mount Eden drivers are parking their cars with the peace of mind that they won?t be stolen.
According to the 44th Precinct, the neighborhood has seen a 30 percent drop in car thefts since the same time last year. Police attribute the decrease to warning signs alerting the public the area is being watched. The signs are posted along the Cross Bronx Expressway between Weeks and Eastburn avenues. Residents say they have also noticed an increased police presence.
Despite the decrease in thefts, some car owners say they have repeatedly been victimized by vandalisms. Yolanda Marrero says her side mirrors were stolen at least six times.
