A large brush fire on the border of Kearny and North Arlington sent large plumes of smoke into the air that could be seen for miles.

The fire was first reported around 4 p.m. Friday on Belleville Turnpike along Route 7. That stretch of Belleville Turnpike includes warehouses and a landfill.

Fire officials say that this was strictly a brush fire and that no structures were damaged or people injured.

Crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly.

The News 12 Storm Watch Team says that there is an increased risk of wildfires on Saturday due to dry conditions and windy weather.
